Hiring for OFM agencies

Hire chatting managers
who make the team sell.

A chatting manager runs the chat team behind one or more OnlyFans accounts: the shift plan, the quality of every conversation, coaching and the numbers. This guide covers what the role includes, how agencies pay it, what to test and how to hire in six steps.

01 / THE ROLE

What does a chatting manager do for an agency?

Chatters sell in the inbox. The chatting manager makes sure they do it well on every shift: the right people on the right accounts, the persona kept, the rules followed and the numbers going up.

On a typical day, a chatting manager reads a sample of yesterday's chats, checks sales and response times per chatter, fixes gaps in the shift plan and gives each chatter one or two concrete points to improve. They are the first contact when a fan asks for something outside the creator's limits, when a chatter is offline or when a payment looks wrong.

In small agencies the manager often still chats a few hours a week. From around eight to ten chatters, managing is a full-time job.

02 / PAY MODELS

How are chatting managers paid?

Most agencies pay a fixed monthly salary and add a bonus tied to the team's results. The bonus should depend on numbers the manager can influence, not only on how much traffic an account gets.

Common pay models for chatting managers
Pay modelHow it worksWatch out forFits when
Salary plus team bonusMost commonA fixed monthly salary plus a share of chat revenue or a bonus for hitting team targets.Define the revenue base and the target before the first month starts. You want stable leadership and reward for growth. The default for most agencies.
Salary onlyA fixed monthly salary, no performance part.Little reason to push quality further once things run.A new team where the job is mainly setting up shifts and training.
Hourly plus bonusAn hourly rate for managing hours, plus a bonus on results.Hours are hard to check for work that happens in short bursts.Part-time managers who still chat some shifts themselves.

General guide, not HireOFM data. Pay depends on team size, number of accounts, region and experience.

Pay for what they control.

Good bonus measures are sales per chatter hour, response time, renewal rate and chat quality scores. Total account revenue alone rewards traffic, not management.

Write down the scope.

State how many chatters and accounts the manager leads, which hours they must cover and who decides on refunds. Scope creep is the most common reason managers leave.

03 / AGENCY TOOLS

Which tools should a chatting manager know?

A manager uses the same CRM as the chatters, but mostly for its reports, chat review and team settings. Spreadsheet skills and a clear team chat matter as much as any single tool.

Common tools and what to check in a manager
ToolWhat the manager uses it forWhat to check in a candidate
OFM CRM (Infloww, CreatorHero, OnlyMonster, Supercreator)Chat review, sales per chatter, permissions and named loginsCan they show how they find a weak chatter in the reports?
Google Sheets or ExcelShift plans, payroll inputs, weekly team numbersCan they build a simple shift plan and a weekly summary?
Telegram, Discord or SlackHandovers, announcements, quick questions from chattersDo their messages to the team read clearly and calmly?
Notion or Google DocsPersona briefs, rules, training materialHave they written onboarding material that others used?

Tool names are examples of common OFM agency software. HireOFM has no integration with these tools.

04 / HIRING PLAN

How to hire a chatting manager in 6 steps

  1. 1

Define the team and the targets

Write down how many chatters and accounts the manager leads, which hours they cover, which numbers they own and who they report to. Then post the role with salary, bonus basis and tools.

  2. 2

    Filter on English and experience

Start with C1 English, a stable connection and at least some time as a chatter or senior chatter. People who never chatted struggle to coach chatters.

  3. 3

    Send a chat review task

Share three anonymised chat logs from your team. Ask what went well, what went wrong and what feedback they would give each chatter. Allow 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Ask for a shift plan

Give a simple case: two accounts, five chatters, US evening peak, one chatter unavailable on weekends. Ask for a weekly plan in a sheet.

  5. 5

    Run a paid trial week

Let the strongest candidate lead a small part of the team for a paid week, with you reading along and clear limits on what they can decide alone.

  6. 6

    Make the offer

Put salary, bonus formula, scope, hours, access rules and the notice period in writing. Review the bonus formula after the first full month.

05 / TRIAL SCORECARD

What to score in the paid trial week

A manager who scores high on numbers but low on feedback will push the team hard and lose good chatters within a few months.

06 / RED FLAGS

Red flags when hiring chatting managers

  • Wants access to creator passwords instead of admin rights in your CRM.

  • Brings their own chatters on day one without tests, contracts or a trial.

  • Only talks about pressure. Targets matter, but a team run on fear produces refunds and churn.

  • Cannot explain past results, such as revenue growth with no detail on team size, accounts or their own part in it.

  • Gives vague feedback in the review task: "be more engaging" is not something a chatter can act on.

  • Moves team chat into private channels you cannot see, or keeps shift data outside your tools.

  • Manages for several agencies at once and is unclear about hours and priorities.

07 / OPTIONS

Promote a chatter, hire a manager or outsource?

There are three common ways to get a chatting manager. They differ in how fast the manager is effective, what they know about your accounts and who keeps the team if things end.

09 / FAQ

Chatting manager hiring FAQ

What does a chatting manager do?

A chatting manager leads the chatters on one or more OnlyFans accounts. They plan shifts, review chat quality, coach chatters, track sales and response times and handle escalations such as refunds or difficult fans.

When does an agency need a chatting manager?

Usually once the owner can no longer read enough chats to keep quality up. For many agencies that point comes at around five chatters or a second account. From around eight to ten chatters, managing is a full-time job.

How are chatting managers paid?

Most agencies pay a fixed monthly salary plus a bonus tied to the team's results, such as chat revenue or sales per chatter hour. The amount depends on team size, number of accounts, region and experience.

Should I promote a chatter to manager?

It can work well if the chatter is also good at explaining and gives clear feedback. Test them with the same chat review task and shift plan you would give an outside candidate.

What is the difference between a chatting manager and an account manager?

A chatting manager leads the chat team. An account manager owns the creator relationship and the account as a whole, including content plan, promotion and growth.

How do I test a chatting manager?

Give three anonymised chat logs and ask for feedback per chatter, ask for a weekly shift plan for a simple case, then run a paid trial week with a small part of the team.

How much does HireOFM cost?

The Free plan includes 1 active job. Agency costs $49 a month and Pro $99 a month, with lower monthly prices on 3- and 6-month terms. There is no fee per hire.
